Now and then, paintings seem to paint themselves. I knew how I would compose and paint this one the moment I spotted the view on one of my jaunts around my adopted state of Colorado. The gathering darkening sky wasnt in the original view, but skies are almost childs play to concoct. The sky excepted, this was to be a one-brush painting. It didnt end up being quite that, but like many a painting I did as a boy with traditional pigments and oils and brushes, work on the land in this piece required only a few brushes.
The inset image at the top shows a small portion of the brush work at 75% resolution. It took me a mere four decades to learn to use brushes this loosely.
What do you think?
